Happy New Year and a freebie Card

 Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, our was a bit hectic with trying to stop the kittens demolishing the Christmas Tree !!

I have a freebie card for you to help celebrate special occasions, I just cut it out and added a coloured insert but you could easily make it in to a shaker card by adding acetate to the back of the glass shape and filling with sequins or glitter.  Hope you like it and I wish you all a very Happy 2018.

Freebie Snowflake Christmas Card

Hi everyone,

Sorry it's been so long since my last post but I have been busy trying to do some new designs for my Design Store as well as trying to get my own Christmas cards made and written. I got so many lovely comments from you wishing me well in my new venture so thank you for that, I really appreciate it and so far everything is going well.

This is the freebie I have for you today

I cut the base card from 250gsm card stock but the circle of snowflakes is quite delicate so I used 160 gsm card for that and it cut beautifully although I would recommend a sharp blade and take care when removing from mat !!

Important changes to my Website and a freebie Flower pop out card

Hi everyone,

Before I get on to the freebie I just want to let my customers know that I have made the decision to wind down my website. The main reasons for this is that a) it needs a major update  to make it more compatible with mobile devices and b) most people are looking for instant downloads these days and I have neither the time or expertise to do that myself. As I don't want to give up designing altogether I applied and have been accepted to become a Designer at craftsUprint. I have my own Shop there and am just starting to upload some of my designs. As a result of this after the 31st October it will not be possible to purchase files from my Shirley's Cards website and I shall also be retiring quite a lot of my older files so if there are any that you may want to purchase please do it before the 31st. I feel this will be a better arrangement all round as I shan't be as tied to my PC in the way I am know due to having to do email sales and maintenance plus I hope the ability to have direct downloads will benefit my customers. The downside is that I have to pay craftsUprint for the privilege but I am happy to do that. Also they do have a minimum purchase policy for anyone buying files but with so many talented designers to choose from I hope that won't be too much of a problem for anyone.

My blog and facebook page will remain as now and I will continue to share freebies with you,

Anyway, enough of all that, here is the freebie I have for you today. I have called it a popout card as the main part of the cut out design stands up from the fold of the card, it comes complete with the insert to add some colour. It is a card that can be used for many occasions, I just quickly added a ribbon and bow to mine for the photograph. I hope you will find it useful.

Freebie Halloween Topper

Hi everyone and thanks for all the lovely comments re the last freebie and the kittens. Today they have managed to shut down my PC twice just by walking over the keyboard, not sure which keys do that but  I have now learnt to do regular saves when I am designing files or anything else come to that !!

Anyway the freebie today is for Halloween which is fast approaching. I would recommend cutting the top part on fairly thin card stock as it is quite intricate. I used 180 gsm and it cut beautifully. I am also going to cut just the top part from vinyl to stick on our door on the day.

Freebie Wish Upon A Star Topper

Hi everyone

Only had time to do a quick freebie for you this week as we have been having some work done to the house and it's been quite a job trying to keep the kittens out of the workmen's way and out of trouble !!

This is the latest photo of them - haven't they grown !!

Freebie Birthday Boy and Girl Toppers

Hi everyone, back from a lovely, relaxing holiday on the beautiful Greek Island of Thassos. The kitties survived their first holiday in the Cattery too but seem very pleased to be back home. They seem to have grown quite a lot in 2 weeks but refuse to sit still long enough for me to take a photo !!

I see I have quite a few new followers since I've been away so welcome to you all and thanks for all your comments.

This week's freebie is something I made to add as an embellishment on children's cards or perhaps add to  wrapped presents. I have made them fairly small but they will easily resize if you need them bigger- hope you find them useful.

Freebie Flower Cut Out Card and Holiday Notice

Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that I am going away on holiday for 2 weeks from tomorrow so if anyone purchases templates from my Website I won't be able to send them out to you until I return home on 11th September. It will be the kittens first visit to the Cattery so am feeling a little apprehensive about that and we know that we shall miss them but needs must.

I have managed to find time to do a freebie card for you before I go so I hope you like it. I wouldn't recommend using heavy card to cut this as it is quite intricate. I used 220 gsm card and it cut fine. The butterfly is one I found in my stash and is made from acetate - I think it looks quite pretty.

Kitten Update and Freebie

Hi everyone,

Just an update on the kittens, they were 4 months old this week so it was time for a visit to the vet to be neutered and micro chipped. Relieved to say all went well, they went back for the post op checkup on Friday and Tommy has been discharged. Tuppence has to have one more check up in a weeks time and then she will be discharged too so all is good.

I decided to jazz up their Pet Carriers with some vinyl as you can see from the photo and got lots of compliments at the Vets and someone even asked if I would do something for them !!

Here are two recent photos of the them, they are really growing up now. The next step is to teach them how to use the cat flap so they can go and explore the great outdoors !!

Freebie Flower Frame

Today's freebie is a little frame I made to embellish a card I made using CraftArtist with some lovely elements from a kit by G & T Designs.

Freebie Rose Edge Card

Hi everyone, another freebie card for you today and thanks to everyone who left comments on the last one.Won't bore you with any more photos of the kittens this week but they are growing fast and keeping us on our toes !!

 I used a rose embossing folder on the front  (it was free with a magazine) as I thought it complimented the rose design nicely but you could also used a patterned paper instead as I have provided a separate front panel for embellishments.

Freebie Bracket Border Card

Hi again everyone, another freebie card for you, just add your own decoration to the centre. I got the inspiration from a card made by my Blogging friend Annie. The photo hasn't come out too well as it is very dull here today but it is another versatile template suitable for many occasions.

Our little kitties are growing fast but still quite determined to deter me from crafting, they are fascinated by my Cameo and PC as you can see from the photo below. I have to rush to do things while they are crashed out !!

Freebie Butterflies Card

Hi everyone from a very  hot  UK, it's even exhausted the kittens and they have found a cool corner in the kitchen to have a sleep in so I have taken the opportunity to put together a card for you without them trying to help - they seem fascinated by the PC screen and seem to think it is fun to walk all over the keyboard !! This is another very simple,  quick card to make, I just used rainbow card for the insert and I cut the sentiment from glitter vinyl although it doesn't show up well in the photo.

Freebie Flower Card

As promised here is a freebie Stencil Flower Card and insert, I have made a front panel for it which you could cut in a different colour/pattern  or as I have done just emboss it. Alternatively you don't have to use the panel, you could just use embellishments or stamps on the basic card.

New Designs for June

Hi everyone and thanks for all your comments about our lovely kittens. They are very lively and such fun to watch - I'm afraid crafting has rather been on the back burner.

Anyway just thought I would show you the latest designs on my Website two of which had to feature cats !!

 The last card is a variation on a step card with a popup centre like a box card. Folds flat for posting.

Freebie Lattice Window Card and some nice news

Hi everyone

Back from my holidays now and thank you for your kind comments about the loss of  Douglas our beloved pet. We had time time reflect while we were away and decided that we would adopt another rescue cat. However, things didn't quite go to plan as we went to the Rescue Centre to look at another little boy cat but found he had a sister who needed a home too so I think you can probably guess the outcome !! Yesterday we collected these two delightful 8 week old kittens. Tommy is on the left next to his sister Tuppence. They are very lively and have cheered us up no end.

Now on to the freebie, it is just a basic Lattice Window Aperture Card for you to decorate as you choose.

I haven't had time to cut it myself (blame the kittens) but this is how my friend Annie used the template and I think you will agree that she has made it look very pretty. Annie has some beautiful cards on her Blog so why not pop over to have a look.

Freebie Flower Edge Topper & Frame And some info

Hi everyone and thanks for all the lovely comments re the Octagonal Card, it seems to have been very popular.

Yesterday was a very sad day for us as we had to have our beautiful cat, Douglas, put to sleep. We had him for 16 years and we miss him dreadfully. We have decide to go away for a few days as the house is so empty without him so I have put a closed notice on my website until 27 May which means anyone buying any files won't receive them until then.

I do however have this Freebie topper and frame for you. Hope you can find a use or them.

Silhouette Studio software V4 released

Hi everyone just thought I would let Silhouette users know that the long awaited new version of the software has now been released. I have been beta testing it for quite a while now and really like it although it is quite different !! You can find the release notes here and you can download the new version here. I am a member of the beta testing group, we have helping to sort out bugs etc for a few months now and it will be an ongoing process so if you do decide to try it I would love to know what you think of it.
